Founders Long Black Chocolate Cake
Founders Long Black® is full of roasted malt flavour, and combines well with foods containing coffee or chocolate. The perfect accompaniment for this cake is a Tall glass of Founders Long Black served at room temperature.
Founders Brewery/Café chooses to use organic ingredients when available for better taste and nutritional value.
Ingredients
Cake:
1 cup Founders Long Black Beer
125grams butter
¾ cup cocoa
2 cups sugar
¾ cup sour cream
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 free range eggs
2½ tsp baking soda
2 cups flour
Icing:
250 grams dark chocolate
½ cup cream
Method
Cake:
Pour beer into a wide pot, add butter in slices.
Heat gently until butter has melted, remove from heat then whisk in cocoa and sugar.
Beat the sour cream with the eggs and vanilla and add to the pot.
Then whisk in flour and baking soda.
Bake in a greased lined tin at 180 for 45 minutes - 1 hour. Rest for 10 minutes in tin and the cool completely on cooling rack.
Icing:
Melt chocolate and cream in microwave stirring often and taking care not to burn it. Spread over top and sides of cooled cake.
